There are several theories as to what exactly will occur on December 21, 2012. Some people feel it will be a new beginning rather than an apocalyptic event. New Age spiritualists believe that humanity will undergo a positive spiritual transformation, and that the end of the Mayan Calendar signifies the beginning of a new era for mankind. We will all move forward into the "Fifth Age of Man" in peace and harmony.
Others don't have such a positive outlook for the 2012 Doomsday prediction.
Symbolism in the Christian Book of Revelation points to a much bleaker outlook. According to it, the Apocalypse will begin with several judgements being unleashed upon the Earth and it's inhabitants. Most notably are cataclysmic earthquakes, meteor showers, famine, and plague. Survivors will be forced to seek shelter in mountains and caves as more than 1/3 of the Earth's population is eradicated. Entire oceans are destroyed, and rivers and springs are poisoned and turned to blood.
Another popular theory involves a sudden change in the Earth's magnetic field, known as a geomagnetic reversal. This could trigger an increase in solar radiation as well as a solar superstorm capable of causing the complete destruction of civilization. Scientists believe that the Earth is currently overdue for a geomagnetic reversal, as the last one occurred 780,00 years ago - though they aren't sure how serious the effects will be.

The absolute worst case 2012 Doomsday prediction is that of a cosmic collision. A large meteor, asteroid, comet, or even planet smashes into the Earth - causing the mass extinction of humanity. The sheer force of the impact would be enough to knock the Earth off its axis, causing a complete polar shift to take place. Dust from the fallout would block out the sun, leading to severe climate change and nuclear winter. It is theorized that an event of this magnitude would have a 95-100% mortality rate.
No one knows for sure which scenario, if any, is the most likely to occur. The Web Bot Project, which is a computer program designed to predict future events based on Internet keyword tracking, has confirmed a "catastrophic event" for 2012. Its prediction is vague, but suggests that the cause will be related to a nuclear event or a reversing of Earth's magnetic field. Somewhat interesting is the fact that a "data gap" exists in the program from early 2012 until May 2013. This suggests that civilization will be forced back into a pre-electronic state of being during that time frame, possibly due to devastating solar activity.

Has Volcanic Activity Been Increasing?

This is a simple question right? Well the answer doesn't seem so simple. That is if you are asking the experts at the Global Volcanism Program.The GVP is a part of the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History.

Among the various questions posted on their FAQ page was this simple question:

Has volcanic activity been increasing?

The answer?

"We don't think so. A look at the number of volcanoes active per year, over the last few centuries, shows a dramatic increase, but…"

So the answer is: Yes, volcanic activity has been dramatically increasing over the past few centuries!

Hmmm. I believe Pliny and many others in antiquity had no problem reporting volcanic activity, so why would reporters over the past few centuries have such a problem? Which century do they believe that a volcano would not be reported? 20th? 19th? 18th? True, we didn't have the USGS back then but science was alive and well a few hundred years ago.

Their explaination simply doesn't hold water since every volcano, whether active or dormant, is very well documented today. The point is, that even if a volcano erupted in a remote area in 1800, and it was not reported at the time, it has since been studied and documented. By looking at plant life and other clues, scientists can determine when a volcano has erupted in the past. They can find evdience for volcanic activity which happened thousands of years ago. Evidence of volcanic activity just a couple of hundred years ago is nearly impossible to mistake.

The fact is that volcanic activity has dramatically increased over the past several hundred years regardless of the "intrepretation" of the science by so called "experts". It seems that government agencies feel it is their responsibility to protect (lie to) the public and downplay the evidence of increased volcanic activity, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, floods, and droughts. I understand that they do not want to instill panic, but the truth needs to be told.

The smallest in the world of snakes were found on the Caribbean island of Barbados - the length of the adult type, was named Leptotyphlops carlae, does not exceed 11 inches. The discoverer, biologist Blair Hedges (Blair Hedges) from the American University of Pennsylvania, reported his finding in an article published in the journal Zootaxa. Hedges found the new snake, which belongs to the so-called uzkorotym snakes (Leptotyphlops), in the forest on the eastern side of Barbados. He believes that the form is very rare because of the fact that the habitats of these reptiles occupy buildings and farms, RIA Novosti reports. "Destruction of habitat - the main threat to biodiversity worldwide. The Caribbean islands are especially vulnerable ... as inhabiting a rare species can not go anywhere, if their habitat destroyed," - said Hedges, whose words are quoted in the statement the university. He determined that the found species of snake in Barbados really do not know science through the study of genetic differences from other species. Thus he found that Leptotyphlops carlae - the smallest of the more than 3,1 thousand known species of snakes. Hedges believes that he found the form can be close to the minimum size. "Natural selection may prevent the appearance of snakes less than a certain size, because their young animals can not find an appropriate food," - said the scientist. He added that he found the form of snakes, most likely fed primarily larvae of ants and termites. Hedges and his colleagues have discovered and described more than 65 new species of amphibians and reptiles in the Caribbean.
